Barnstaple Library is a friendly and vibrant space, open six days a week, incorporating our Local Studies Library and our Business and Intellectual Property Centre. The Library boasts a large selection of books and audiobooks and a reserve stack of approximately 28,000 items which are available on request.

On Friday mornings during term time, we have a fabulous pop-up café run by students from Pathfield School, serving a selection of drinks and delicious homemade cakes.

Bideford Library is housed in the historic Bideford Arts Centre, built in 1896. The library opened here in July 2023, after an extensive refurbishment, and offers a full range of library services for adults and children in a bright and airy space with views across the River Torridge.

Bideford Library has the addition of The Juniper Room on the 1st floor, which holds the Pearse-Chope Collection, and is available for hire during library hours.

Brixham Library is a welcoming community library situated just around the corner from Brixham Theatre. There is a lot going on for all generations, including regular Bounce and Rhyme sessions, Saturday Club Stay and Play, and Arts and Crafts Group both in and out of the holidays. 

Brixham has a wonderfully active Friends Group which hosts regular activities from monthly coffee mornings, walks and talks to concerts and trips.

There is free Wi-Fi and PCs for public use. Along with space for study, there is plenty of comfortable seating for relaxing.

Cullompton Library is part of the Hayridge Centre, located in the heart of the town. It is accessible six days a week.

The Hayridge Centre includes a number of well-equipped meeting rooms which are available for hire. The Library includes a wide selection of books (including large print and audiobooks) for loan, a well-stocked children's library, printing and photocopying services, and 8 public access computers free to use for 2 hours each day. Free WiFi is available throughout the building and the library hosts a regular programme of events for children and adults.

The Novel Tea Nook is a cosy café nestled within the library, offering freshly brewed coffees, homemade cakes, and light lunches. Open from 9:30am–3:00pm Monday to Friday and 9:30am–1:00pm on Saturdays, you’re welcome to eat in, relax on our inviting patio, or enjoy your treats anywhere within the library.

Cullompton Library

Exeter Library is open seven days a week and receives an average of 1,500 visits a day. The library has over 1km of shelves containing over 60,000 books, CDs and DVDs which can be issued at any of the self-service points. In addition, the library has a reserve stack of approximately 150,000 items, available on request.

Exeter Library

Exmouth Library is open five days a week and stocks Local Studies materials, adult, teen and childrens' books, and audiobooks for loan and request. 

The library hosts a variety of events, activities and community groups including Bounce and Rhyme sessions, Coderdojo Club and Lego Club. 

There are 11 public access computers which are free for members to use for up to two hours per day, printing and copying facilities and free WiFi. 

Exmouth Library is located in the centre of Exmouth, with a community space and office available for hire at competitive rates.

FabLab Devon offers an opportunity for individuals to develop their digital fabrication skills and share learning with other FabLab members and volunteers. 

It offers the ability to rapidly prototype and test new creative methods. You might use the lab to prototype for business, to add to a design as an artisan maker, for craft, as a hobby, or to learn new skills and meet people with similar interests.

Honiton Library is a friendly library placed in the centre of the community. There is a welcoming foyer area with seating and a separate Reference library with public computers and tables at which you can work or sit and relax with a book or the newspaper.

Honiton Library

With arguably the best view of any library in the country, Ilfracombe Library is just a short walk from both the High Street and Seafront. Friendly, helpful staff can assist you whether it is with choosing a book, uploading a CV or finding a phone number.

There are 6 computers offering up to 2 hours of internet access a day, study space, free WiFi, and a wide range of regular activities from Bounce and Rhyme for babies, to film and craft clubs for adults. In addition, there are lots of children's events during school holidays and on Saturdays.

Ilfracombe Library

At Ivybridge Library, books are at the heart of the service we offer but there is much more to see, try and experience in our modern and vibrant library. The Library is located on the ground floor of the Watermark and offers everything from study tables, computers (free of charge for two hours) and newspapers to jigsaws, board games, knit and natter or read and reminisce groups. There is also a very popular café on site.

In the light and airy dedicated children’s area there are regular craft activities and weekly children’s groups such as Little Stars and Bounce and Rhyme.

Ivybridge Library

Kingsbridge Library serves the market town of Kingsbridge and the many surrounding villages. It is located near the main car park and bus station, with easy level access.

The library is open five days a week and there is a bright and cheerful children’s library and an area for teens. In addition to books and audiobooks there are a wide range of events for children and adults. The library offers a warm welcome to all. Hot drinks are available for a donation.

Newton Abbot Library sits within The Passmore Edwards Centre, a focal point for the local community. As well as the wide range of books, music, films, magazines and other resources, visitors to the area can enjoy the Owl and the Pussycat café and courtyard, while community organisations and commercial companies can hire the Centre’s meeting rooms for events and meetings. 

The friendly library staff are on hand to help and support you with any queries, and regularly host a range of events and activities from storytimes for children, author events, book groups and IT support. 

Newton Abbot Library is also home to the UK’s second largest collection of railway studies books and reference materials after York's National Railway Museum and is an access point for adult learning.

Newton Abbot Library

Nestled in the heart of town, situated just off the main street, Okehampton Library occupies a historic school room and is open six days a week. As well as a regularly updated range of stock and displays to inspire you, the library also offers frequent events for children and adults. Staff are always on hand to help with any queries, and can assist in navigating all services.

Tea and coffee is available for a small fee throughout the day, and the library offers the perfect place to sit and relax, peruse the local newspapers, work online, or catch up on your reading.

Okehampton Library

Ottery St Mary Library moved into the former NatWest Bank building in the centre of the town in February 2017. The new library is light, bright and airy, with a wonderfully colourful and spacious children's area.

The Library has a varied selection of stock, including the Coleridge Collection, with books about the life and work of Samuel Taylor Coleridge, who was born in Ottery St Mary. In April 2017 the library’s opening hours were extended by a group of keen volunteers, who run the library for two extra sessions a week. The library is also supported by a very active friends group called, Friends of Ottery Library (FOOL).

Paignton Library is a busy community hub, situated near the station and town centre. The library offers a fun and vibrant environment and offers a warm welcome to everyone. There are lots of activities for children including Bounce and Rhyme for babies and toddlers, Saturday morning Lego Club, and Code Club as well as craft activities in the holidays.

The library also hosts a Local History Group as well as a local Poetry group. Several reading groups make use of our fantastic range of books for their regular meetings. The Friends of Paignton Library run a Scrabble group and Crafty Chatters.  

The library offers support with IT through our IT volunteers and provides public access to computers, Wi-Fi, printing and photocopying.

Paignton Library

Sidmouth Library is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday (until 1pm). 

The library offers books (standard and large print), audiobooks and DVD hire, all of which can be issued at the self-service points. There is a bright, engaging children's library on the ground floor and a separate teen area. There are 12 computers which are free to use for up to 2 hours a day and printing and photocopying facilities are also available. The quiet room can be hired depending on availability.

Sidmouth Library

South Molton Library was built in 2008 as part of the Amory Centre which also houses the town council and North Devon District council. 

The library is open 5 days a week and caters to the market town of South Molton and the surrounding rural area. South Molton library holds a wide selection of books, audiobooks, and local studies stock. 

The library hosts a number of regular events including Lego Club, Bounce and Rhyme, computer and gadget help, reading, writing and activity groups.

Tavistock Library offers a fun and vibrant environment, with a warm welcome to everyone. 

The library features 3 meeting rooms available for hire during library hours.

There are lots of activities for children including story time, Bounce and Rhyme for babies and toddlers and after school Lego Club. The Home Ed group meets at the library every Tuesday morning and there is a regular Chatterbooks reading group, plus lots more going on over the summer holidays.

For older customers there are scrabble groups, several Reading groups that meet regularly and one to one support with IT. The library also provides 18 public access computers, Wi-Fi, printing and photocopying and tea and coffee is available for a small donation.

Tavistock Library is located opposite the bus station, close to the Wharf and town centre.

Recently refurbished, Tiverton Library is a welcoming modern space.

As one of the busiest libraries in Devon, it offers a lively calendar of regular events and activities, and a meeting room that can be hired for business and community use. 

The library is located near the bus station and shares Phoenix House with Mid Devon District Council and Tiverton Job Centre Plus.  

Pay & display car parking is available close by - with 10 spaces opposite the library at Phoenix House, and all-day parking available at the multi-storey car park next to the Premier Inn on Phoenix Lane.
